Welsh Government

Develop campaigns and design assets that align with the Welsh Government’s brand identity, ensuring all messaging is clear, consistent, and engaging.

Overview

During my work with the Welsh Government whilst at SBW, I contributed to a variety of campaigns, translating creative concepts into fully realized designs while strictly adhering to brand guidelines. This involved careful attention to typography, color palettes, imagery, and layout to ensure consistency and clarity across all materials.

A key aspect of my role was producing bilingual communications, integrating both Welsh (native) and English seamlessly within the same design. This required precise attention to legibility, visual balance, and tone, ensuring messaging was clear and engaging for a diverse audience.

I executed campaigns across multiple formats, including 6-sheet and 96-sheet billboards, pull-up banners, direct marketing materials, brochures, and other promotional assets. Each format required adapting the design while maintaining brand integrity and bilingual messaging, ensuring a cohesive look and feel across all touchpoints.

This experience strengthened my skills in multichannel campaign execution, multilingual design, and brand compliance, allowing me to deliver work that was both visually compelling and strategically effective, supporting the Welsh Government’s goal of engaging businesses and communities across Wales.

The Welsh Government launched the Business Rates Support program to help businesses across Wales access relief on business rates, ensuring they can thrive and invest in growth. The goal of the campaign was to raise awareness of the program and encourage local businesses to take advantage of available support.

As part of the design team, I contributed to the Education Begins at Home campaign – a Welsh Government initiative encouraging parents to take a more active role in their children’s education. The campaign highlighted how simple, everyday moments at home can have a powerful impact on a child’s learning and development.

The central message, ‘Education begins at home,’ captured a positive, supportive approach. Our creative direction highlighted that education doesn’t just happen in the classroom but through the simple routines and moments that shape family life – like reading together or setting good bedtime habits.

As a team, we delivered a thoughtful, visually cohesive campaign that resonated with parents across Wales and helped strengthen the connection between home and school, ultimately supporting children in getting the best possible start in life.
